Registered Nurse, Clinical Supervisor

Location: Rome, NY

The Registered Nurse, Clinical Supervisor ensures the delivery and coordination of high-quality patient care and home care services. They play a key role in orienting new staff and offering ongoing support to current team members. Collaborating closely with staff, they ensure the accuracy of data submission and assist in rectifying any errors. Additionally, they contribute to the development of clinical operational processes. The Clinical Supervisor directly oversees clinical staff, ensuring they possess adequate skills and adhere to agency policies and procedures. This position is full-time Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm, and reports to our Rome, NY location.

Performance Responsibilities and Standards:

1. Responsible for the delivery of quality and safe patient care.

  • Ensure delivery of timely and safe clinical services, including the provision of homecare as needed.
  • Facilitate the flow of information and ideas between caregivers, families and patients, conference with disciplines as needed to provide feedback and support in case management responsibilities.
  • Review client records, orders, and other communication for quality and safety of care.
  • Model and implement standards of professional practice.
  • Act as leader with interdisciplinary team.
  • Report and when needed actively resolve complaints, grievances and conflicts with assistance from the Associate Director.
  • Investigate and report incidents of suspected client neglect to the Associate Director
  • Participates in On-Call coverage as needed.

2. Responsible for the supervision of clinical staff including staff development and evaluation.

  • Communicate with staff regularly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ensure staff adherence to performance expectations.
  • Provide training to staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff performance in a timely manner.
  • Assist and manage accountability of staff in reaching case management goals.

3. Act as a resource for clinicians

  • Understand and ensure compliance with agency policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of community resources and assist staff in making appropriate referrals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and ensure compliance regulations governing home care.

4. Assume responsibility for personal growth and development as well as for staff.

  • Manage, facilitate and attend meetings.
  • Work cooperatively with staff, managers, and community resources.

5. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Current New York State registered professional license, Registered Nurse.
  • Preferred Bachelor's degree from an approved school, acceptable to New York State Department of Health.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience working within a home care health agency.
  • Current New York State driver's license, automobile insurance and a vehicle which can be used for work.

Physical Requirements:

  • Speaking/visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend and express written/verbal communication.
  • Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity including: Pushing/pulling – typical weight 50 pounds / Maximum weight 150 pounds; Lifting/carrying – typical weight 25 pounds / Maximum weight 40 pounds
  • Ability to walk and drive in varied weather conditions.
  • Ability to use telephone/IT equipment to communicate/document.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Category I - Employee has tasks that routinely involve exposure or potential exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues
